Iran warns Israel to stop the war in Gaza or the region will 'go out of control'

Iran's Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian has warned Israel that the Middle East could spiral out of control if it does not stop strikes on Gaza.

He added that the United States was "also to blame" for Israel's military support.

Hours later, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu issued a dire warning to his troops, declaring that the conflict with Hamas was "do or die" and that his nation was engaged in a "battle for its lives."

Both Hezbollah of Lebanon and Hamas, which attacked Israel two weeks ago and killed 1,400 people, are backed by Iran.

According to the health ministry operated by Hamas, over 4,600 Palestinians have lost their lives in Gaza over the past two weeks. Additionally, Israel declared on Saturday that it was escalating its airstrikes.

Mr. Amir-Abdollahian stated at a news conference in Tehran, "I warn the United States and its proxy Israel that if they do not immediately stop the crime against humanity and genocide in Gaza, anything is possible at any moment and the region will spiral out of control."

He predicted that the consequences would be "severe, bitter," "wide-ranging," and "regionally consequential," as well as for pro-war advocates.

The foreign minister further asserted that the military assistance provided by the United States to Israel served as substantiation for the claim that Israel was conducting "a proxy war" in Gaza on behalf of the United States.

Additionally, senior U.S. officials warn that the conflict may extend.

A "significant escalation of attacks" against American citizens or forces was a threat warned about by US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin.

"Our advice to any group or nation seeking to exploit this extremely unfortunate situation and escalate this conflict is to abstain," he stated on the ABC network's This Week program.

In addition, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken stated that Iranian proxies, such as Hezbollah or Hamas, posed a "probability of escalation" and that the United States was "taking every precaution to ensure we can defend" Israelis and American citizens.

In recent days, a number of Iraqi bases that are occupied by coalition troops headed by the United States have been the target of rocket and drone attacks.

Mr. Netanyahu also visited troops in northern Israel near the border with Lebanon on Sunday. This region has been the site of gunfire between Israel and Hezbollah since the beginning of the conflict.

"A battle for our lives is underway." A struggle for our homeland is not an overstatement; this is the actual conflict. "They must perish; the choice is do or die," he said.

He issued a dire warning to Hezbollah against joining the conflict.

"[Hezbollah] will commit the most grave error of their existence." We will then strike them with a force beyond description. "They and the nation of Lebanon will be devastated as a result," he declared.

Hezbollah, on the other hand, has declared itself "completely prepared to wage war against Israel."

A minimum of 27 fatalities have been documented in southern Lebanon as a result of gunfire between Hamas and Israel. Reports from the Israeli military indicate that one civilian and at least five Israeli soldiers have been slain in Israel.

Israel issued evacuation orders for dozens of communities in the north, with 14 more being added on Sunday.

According to Syrian state media, Israeli missiles struck the international terminals in Aleppo and Damascus early on Sunday, killing at least two employees in neighboring Syria, where Iran maintains a military presence.

Both airports have been rendered inoperable due to runway damage.
